Friday fun day

May 4, 2007

We’ve been pretty busy the last couple of days. Wednesday was our final childbirth class. Thursday I took Nanette for her weekly checkup and NST. During the checkup we were giving our induction date, May 14th. So now at least we know when the baby is coming. Needless to say we spent the rest of the day shopping. We went to Shoppers World in Framingham to see if they had the Cherry nightstands that are in short supply at Babies R Us. They didn’t have a single stand in stock and we had already been to N. Attleboro and Warwick this week. Next stop was the Millbury Babies R Us, but not before a visit to Best Buy. That morning before we left for the doctor’s office we ordered the tv stand online and arranged for an in store pickup. I also saved us $60 by ordering the video camera I wanted online rather than buying it in the Best Buy store. Is that stupid or what? Hey it saved me money so I’m happy. I spent the rest of the evening assembling the night and tv stands.

Today I’m cleaning up of the debris from the assemblies. I’m also trying to cover up an ugly etched mirror in the bathroom with a mirrored film. Trimming the corners is the most difficult part. I’m on attempt number four. Wish me luck.

I started painting the office with the tinted primer on Sunday afternoon.  We went out and did a few errands then I decided to do a second coat later that evening. So last night I put the finish coat of paint on the walls. What a mess that turned out to be. I’ve never painted with such a difficult color. Looking at the paint it appeared very thick. However, the when I was applying the paint it was almost streaky. There isn’t even a question about doing a second coat of paint. Now I’m concerned that I’m going to have to do a third coat.

Hot Stove

January 22, 2007

Saturday my in-laws came by with some firewood so we could test out the newly inspected wood stove. The stove worked well and brought the basement temperature up to 70 degrees.  I’m going to have to get some wood delivered because I really liked having a fire going in the stove. Sunday we ran the stove while we worked downstairs.

Sunday ended up being a productive day. We built the shelf unit in the basement. This is going to be used for all of those baking pans and pots that we don’t use often. Later in the day I replaced the faucet in the bathroom. Everything went smoothly up until I had to reconnect the cold water feed. To make a long story short, a crooked washer was to blame for my cold water feed problem.

We got this recipe from my Mom for Buffalo Chicken Meatballs earlier in the week. We ended up making them for dinner and we’re very pleased with the meal.

Beautiful day in the neighborhood.

Hope everyone gets a chance to be outside even for a few minutes today because the weather is terrific. Well today is my early day at work which also means I can leave early. Not much happening at the office today. We had our usual meeting first thing in the morning. I got a few projects lined up for the week after next. I brought my truck in for an oil change and then down to an auto body shop for an estimate. I don't think I mentioned that earlier in the week some moron that lives on my street ran into my work truck while I was at a stop sign. No real damage when you look at it, but the estimate is pricey for the repair. The whole ordeal was more of a hassle than anything else. I still cannot believe that the kid was driving with the windshield completely covered by frost. Not to mention him driving to fast and taking the corner too wide onto our street. Lucky for him I wasn't one of the kids on the street waiting for a bus.

Rhode Island the least livable state in New England

Gee, what a surprise. Yeah right. CT didn’t come in that great either it was #10. NH ranked #1. Now I know why my relatives built a house on a lake in NH.

Watched the Oscars last night, boring. It definitely wasn’t worth staying up to watch. I should have just let the Tivo record it. Television is much better when you can fast forward through the slow parts of a show.

I did catch Walk the Line this weekend along with Lady and the Tramp. We actually bought both movies because it’s cheaper to buy a DVD than it is to go to the theater these days. We enjoyed watching both films. I had not seen Lady in the Tramp since I was little.

I don’t know about anyone else, but the ride home last night wasn’t fun. We ended up with 4 or 5 inches on snow. That was about 4 or 5 inches more than I expected. I have a sinking feeling that both the Spring and Summer weather will be arriving later than usual this year.

In other news I’m still waiting for the replacement parts for the front door. I have no idea why you cannot purchase these parts from Home Depot, the store I bought the door. All that they have are generic replacement parts. I’ve bought three different parts and none of them seem to fit the door although they are supposed to fit. So my door is still open and my pockets are a little lighter.
