Killingly Commons Stores

Stop and Shop and McDonald’s will be moving over to the Commons along with Lowes, Staples, Target, Bed Bath and Beyond, Michaels, Famous Footwear, Lane Bryant, Dress Barn, Sleepy’s, Verizon, Ruby Tuesday and Starbucks. Some of the bigger stores will probably be open by the middle of next year and the whole Commons by late 2008.

  2. Chris Ledoux Says:

Thanks for the tip. Presonally, I would rather have anything other than Ruby Tuesday because they are already in Lisbon.

  3. Chris C. Says:

Took these when flying over Killingly Commons a few weeks back. Construction is moving along.

  4. Stephanie Nicks Says:

Anyone know what’s up with this plaza? Already many months behind schedule and construction seems to be at a standstill.

  5. Chris Ledoux Says:

The last I read the Lowes store is slated for a February opening. I’ve worked on a Lowes preject before and they are very strict about meeting their deadlines. So if February is when it is scheduled to be open then it should open in that month. The perceived “lack of activity” is most likely becauae the majority of constuction is now being done on the interiors of new Lowes and Stop and Shop, building. The site contractor has completed a sizeable porttion of the “site work”. Most of the work you will see now will be related to construction on the individual buildings/plazas.

The only negative thing I have to say about the project relates to the roadwork. The paving was some of the worst I’ve seen on a State road. That and on Route 101 Westbound there should not be two greeen lights for a single lane going straight. It only causes problems for the drivers that don’t get over quick enough from the second Right turn ONLY lane.

    Chris,
I’d like to see a book store go in here. To that end, I found and wrote to both Barnes & Noble and Borders, asking for a site consideration. Maybe if enough *quiet Corner* residents write in to request same, we can actually get one *to* consider putting a store in up here.

To all who take the time to write reqesting a store, I want to say

    THANKS
    Pat

Thanks for the update Chris. I am so excited that Lowe’s and Stop & Shop will be in that plaza. Along with all the other stores the area will finally have someplace decent to shop. Right now I still go to Smithfield Commons on Rte. 44 in Smithfield, RI because they have so many nice stores there. Pretty soon all the same stores will be right down the street – very cool.

I too would like to see a bookstore go in there. I’ll try the sites you listed, Pat.

  8. Pat Says:

    Stephanie,
I wrote to Allyn & Associates asking about if they had approached either Barnes & Noble or Borders about locating a store in Killingly Commons. I got an e-mail back from Fred Allyn III himself about my e-mail. He said that Borders was more likely to respond to a site consideration. Not sure why he specified them, but thats O.K. with me. Anyway, he said that he was going to attend the International Council of Shopping Centers convention soon and said he would bring that up the bookstore(s) company reps. THAT would be SOOO COOL if we were succesful to get one of them to come to our corner of the state. ! ! πŸ™‚ )

    Take Care,
    Pat

  9. Miranda Says:

Seeing that there are still open buildings when will we be notified of other stores being put in and which ones they are going to be?

  10. Chris Ledoux Says:

@ Miranda – I do not have that information at this time.

  11. Norm Says:

Just thought I would let everyone know that the Target will be opening in October 2008. I can get the exact date of the Grand opening if anyone is interested.

  12. Chris Ledoux Says:

That’s funny because all the new signs read Opening March 2009.

  13. Norm Says:

It is really opening in October. Anyone have anymore pics of the sight?

  14. Chris Ledoux Says:

    Norm,

What’s your source for the October opening date? The only buildings being worked on at this time are Lowe’s and the Super Stop and Shop. Target’s building is located at the far end of the site and there has been no activity.

  15. Chris Ledoux Says:

    Norm,

Apparently your source is correct, as the sign has been changed to read Target Opening October ’08

  16. Stephanie Nicks Says:

I stopped in the parking lot today and a worker said Lowe’s would be open next week!!

  17. Daniel Says:

    Stephanie Nicks,

  18. Daniel Says:

I heared that the Lowe’s grand opening will be April 22, 2008 that is 4 more days and Stop & Shop will open its doors the end of June or the beginnig of May.

  19. Carrie in Ashford Says:

Any new word on when Stop & Shop will be opening? I don’t see anything on their website. I’m tired of driving to Willimantic!! πŸ™‚

  20. Chris Ledoux Says:

    Carrie,

The Stop & Shop opened at the end of May.

  21. Carrie in Ashford Says:

So cool! Guess today’s trip to Willi will probably be my last – hooray! πŸ™‚ Thanks, Chris.
